Lord of the Rings 30 Day Challenge
Day 1: How did you discover LOTR? Tell us about it.
I first read it when publicity for the first movie started appearing. It seemed like a great movie so I decided to read the books first.
Day 2: Your favorite movie? and book?
Both Fellowship of the Ring. I love its relative innocence and the visits to Rivendell and Lothlorien.
Day 3: Is there any of the films adaptations that have made you angry because they’ve ignored important parts of the book?
‘Angry’ is too strong a word. It would’ve been great if they’d included Tom Bombadil, since he’s one of my favourite characters. Actually, what does make me angry is Haldir’s death. In the book there aren’t even any Elves at Helm’s Deep. Yay for more Elves, but poor Haldir.
Day 4: Who is your least and your most favorite female character and why?
Most favourite: Eowyn. I don’t really know why, I just love her. My least favourite is Arwen. She doesn’t appear in the books so obviously I don’t have a problem with her there, but in the movies she’s just really annoying.
Day 5: Who is your least and your most favorite male character and why?
Most favourite: Tom Bombadil, because he’s awesome. Also Glorfindel and Fëanor. I really couldn’t choose between those three. Least: Saruman.
Day 6: Where would you live in Middle Earth?
Lothlorien, because it’s simply beautiful.
Day 7: Favorite poetry?
Tom Bombadil’s song.
Day 8: What is your favorite people (hobbits, orcs, elves, ents, men, dwarves, etc)?
Elves. I do like Hobbits a lot too.
Day 9: Favorite song from the LOTR OST?
The Ring Goes South, for the first 10 seconds or so. I love that part.
Day 10: Lothlorién or Rivendell?
Lothlorien.
Day 11: What character would you say you are most like? And what character you wish you were most like?
I really have no idea who I’m most like. I’d like to be wise like some of the older characters, and brave like Sam.
Day 12: First, Second, Third Era or (even) fourth era and why?
I actually prefer the time before the first era, because that’s when the whole Fëanor/Silmaril war happened and Fëanor’s my favourite character.
Day 13: Least favorite movie? And book?
The Two Towers. This is probably sacrilige, but the Frodo/Sam parts can get quite boring.
Day 14: Team Mordor or Team “all free peoples of Middle Earth”?
Free peoples. I’m a total Voldemort supporter in HP, but Sauron’s evil is of a whole other level, I just can’t get on board with it.
Day 15: Who would be your best friends at Middle Earth? (Three only).
I’d like to be friends with Elladan and Elrohir, they seem like a good time.
Day 16: Favorite hobbit?
Sam.
Day 17: Are you excited about “The Hobbit” movie or scared it won’t do the book justice?
Excited! It looks really great from what we’ve seen so far and I trust Peter Jackson will do it justice.
Day 18: Ever dressed up as one of LOTR characters? Tell us about it.
No.
Day 19: Do you prefer the books or films?
You can’t really compare the two.
Day 20: If you had to meet one member of the cast, who would it be?
I’d like to hang out with the 4 hobbits, they seem like they’re always having fun when they’re together.
Day 21: Out of all the characters that died, if you could bring one back, who would it be?
Theodred. We barely get to see him, but there’s just something about him.
Day 22: Scariest scene?
Shelob. Brr.
Day 23: Any part of the books/movies that makes you cry?
In the movie TT, when Gandalf appears at sunrise with his army. And in RotK when the Ring is destroyed. And when Frodo gets on the boat. And the very end, when the Hobbit door closes. And about a million other scenes.
Day 24: Any particular scene you wished would have been put in the movie but it wasn’t?
I can’t think of a particular scene, only characters.
Day 25: For you what was the worst part of the Ring-Bearer journey to destroy the one ring?
When he was captured by Faramir and he was going to bring him and the Ring to Gondor.
Day 26: If you could spend one day of your life in Middle Earth, where would you go? What would you do? To whom would you speak?
Ugh, this is an impossible question. I think I’d go to Rivendell because there are lots of different races there and really interesting Elves (Glorfindel, Elrond, …)
Day 27: Would you rather own Narya, Nenya or Vilya?
Vilya, because it’s the most powerful.
Day 28: Apart from LOTR, what’s your favorite book?
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
Day 29: Did you enjoy the Lord Of The Rings Soundtrack?
Yes, it’s beautiful.
Day 30: What effect has The Lord Of The Rings made on your life and how much does it mean to you?
I’m not going to answer that because things would get way too mushy.
